Description
A creamy, tangy, and sweet whipped feta dip made with honey and fresh thyme. This easy 5-minute appetizer is perfect for parties, requiring minimal effort but delivering maximum flavor and visual appeal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz block feta cheese (preferably Greek or sheep’s milk)
- 8 oz block full-fat cream cheese, softened
- 2–3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced or grated
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 3–4 tablespoons honey (clover or wildflower)
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tablespoons cracked pistachios or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Break the feta cheese and softened cream cheese into large chunks. If the feta is very salty, rinse it quickly under cold water and pat dry.
- Add the feta, cream cheese, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, and a crack of black pepper to a food processor.
- Pulse a few times to break down the ingredients, then run the processor continuously for 1-2 minutes, stopping to scrape down the sides with a spatula, until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
- Taste the dip and adjust seasoning with more salt, lemon, or pepper if needed.
- Transfer the dip to a shallow serving bowl and use the back of a spoon to create swirls and ridges on the surface.
- If making ahead, cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 days.
- Just before serving, drizzle honey generously over the top in a zigzag pattern.
- Sprinkle fresh thyme leaves, red pepper flakes, and optional nuts over the honey.
- Serve immediately with crostini, pita chips, or fresh vegetables.
Notes
For best results, ensure the cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps. The dip improves in flavor if made ahead and chilled. Do not freeze as the texture may become grainy. If the dip is too thick, add more olive oil; if too thin, add more feta. Add toppings like honey and thyme just before serving to maintain freshness.
