Description
A quick, 10-minute homemade pumpkin caramel syrup made with just three core ingredients. Perfect for adding a festive, spiced flavor to coffee, oatmeal, or yogurt.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (240ml) caramel sauce (thick, pourable sauce, not thin topping)
- 3 tablespoons (45g) pumpkin puree (100% pure, not pie filling)
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Measure out the pumpkin puree, spice, and cream before starting.
- Pour the caramel sauce into a small saucepan and heat over medium-low until warm and fluid.
- Add the pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice to the warm caramel. Whisk vigorously until the mixture is smooth, uniform, and light orange.
- Pour in the heavy cream and salt. Continue whisking constantly and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Simmer for 3-4 minutes to cook out the raw pumpkin taste and thicken the syrup slightly.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract if using.
- Let the syrup cool for 5 minutes, then pour into a glass jar or bottle for storage.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. The syrup will thicken when cold; warm slightly in the microwave before using. If the syrup is too thick, add a teaspoon of warm cream. If too thin, simmer for another 2-3 minutes. Do not freeze as the dairy may separate.
