Old-Fashioned Peach Cobbler: Best Easy Recipe

  • Author: Harper
  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

A rustic, comforting dessert featuring sweet, juicy peaches topped with a thick, buttery drop biscuit. This easy one-dish recipe uses simple ingredients and works with both fresh and frozen peaches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups peeled and sliced peaches (fresh or frozen)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1/2 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced peaches, 3/4 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla. Toss until peaches are evenly coated and pour into the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, baking powder, salt, and 2 tablespoons sugar.
  4. In another bowl or measuring cup, whisk melted butter and milk together. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir gently just until moistened. Do not overmix.
  5. Drop mounds of biscuit dough evenly over the peach filling, leaving small gaps between mounds.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling vigorously. Tent with foil if browning too quickly.
  7. Let cool for 15-20 minutes before serving to allow filling to thicken. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Frozen peaches can be used without thawing. Fresh peaches should be peeled. Do not overmix the biscuit dough to avoid tough biscuits. Let the cobbler rest for 15-20 minutes after baking to prevent runny filling. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
