Honey Sriracha Roasted Chickpeas: 5-Min Better Than Takeout

  • Author: Harper
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

These honey sriracha roasted chickpeas are a crunchy, sweet, and spicy snack that is better than takeout. They are easy to make, customizable, and perfect for parties or healthy snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) canned chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil or olive oil
  • 23 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro or green onions (optional)
  • 1 lime wedge (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Drain and rinse the chickpeas thoroughly in a colander.
  3. Pat the chickpeas completely dry using paper towels to ensure crispiness.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together sriracha, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and avocado oil until smooth.
  5. Place dried chickpeas in a large mixing bowl and pour the sauce over them. Toss until evenly coated.
  6. Spread chickpeas in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring they are not crowded.
  7. Roast for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool for at least 10 minutes to harden and crisp up.
  9. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container. Garnish with cilantro or a squeeze of lime if desired.

Notes

Ensure chickpeas are thoroughly dried before roasting to prevent sogginess. Do not crowd the pan; use two batches if necessary. Honey can burn, so check at 15 minutes if your oven runs hot. They crisp up as they cool, so do not eat immediately after removing from the oven. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
